Academy Program Overview

The CVU Academy Developmental Program is the premier youth soccer academy in the region.  The ADP is designed with the development of young soccer players in mind. The program will emphasize player development over results. Our philosophy is to encourage the development of techniques and skills required to play the game of soccer. Players will be pushed to improve technique, improve teamwork, and play with high standards, while at the same time encouraged to explore creativity with the soccer ball.

Program Goals:

  • Have Fun: We strive to make every aspect of our program enjoyable for all players. Most importantly it is our goal for the players to have fun and begin to develop a passion for playing the game.
  • Emphasize Individual Development: We want players to take responsibility for their own development in training, matches and at home.
  • Motivate Players to Play: Our Academy players graduate with the desire, attitude and tools needed to become a successful player in our Travel Program.

The Academy season runs from the middle of August through the beginning of November in the fall and the middle of February to the end of May in the spring. For additional information on how your son or daughter can become part of the CVU Academy Developmental Program, please contact Kevin Fabulich, CVU Executive Director, via email at kevin.fabulich@centralvirginiaunited.com.

The CVU U9-U10 Academy Developmental Program is the transition program from the CVU Recreation Program to the CVU Travel Team Program. The focus of the program is developing individual players so they are equipped to compete at the Travel level. The program emphasis will be on providing a fun, enjoyable environment for the players while improving individual technique, teamwork, creativity with the ball, and learning to compete with high standards.

The CVU Academy Developmental Program is directed by a full-time staff member, whose responsibility is to ensure maximum opportunities for individual development. The Academy coaches are licensed professional coaches who work within the club to implement our proven player development curriculum.

The U9-U10 program will train 2 times a week at CVRSC and play matches on the weekend ranging from in house scrimmages, festivals with other academy programs, and tournaments where appropriate developmental competition is available.
