Academy and Futures FAQ's
Academy and Futures Programs FAQ's
How much do the CVU Futures and Academy Programs Cost?
Our Futures program is $150 and our Academy program is $250 for each season registered. We offer both a Fall and Spring Season of play, so the cost is $300 dollars total for both seasons of the Futures Program and $500 for both seasons of the Academy Program.
What does the registration cost cover?
Registration costs cover our staff's coaching fees, training sessions at our fields, as well as equipment provided by CVU for training sessions and games. The Futures program participants will also receive a CVU Futures shirt as part of their registration. **Please note that Academy Program players will need to purchase a uniform for games that will cost around $50. This uniform will be good for both years a player is in our program if they choose to participate.
What is the difference between Recreation Soccer and The Futures and Academy Program? Why should I sign my child up for these programs?
There are a number of differences between our CVU Recreation Programs and The Futures/Academy Programs. All of our Futures/Academy Program coaches are Nationally Licensed coaches through U.S. Soccer, which is the governing body of soccer in the United States. Both of these programs are also overseen by one of our Full-Time Technical Staff Members and follow our CVU Club Player Development Curriculum. We will hold 2 training sessions per week at our CVU Soccer Complex and have in-house/out of house games on the weekend. Our Recreation programs are coached by volunteers and practices are only held 1 time per week at Peaks View Park. Our Futures and Academy Programs are perfect for players who really enjoy the game of soccer and want to improve their skills with professionals!
What will my child need for their first day of practice and games?
As with any sport or activity your child participates in, there are a few things that are essential to bring to soccer practice. We expect each child to bring his or her own soccer ball, as well as shinguards, cleats, and water. We encourage each player to bring his or her own ball to instill a sense of personal responsibility for improving their soccer skills.Without their soccer ball, a player will never get better! Please read our section on "Nutrition and Hydration" for more information on the benefits of proper hydration in training and games for your player.
How long does the season last and where are the games and practices?
Our Futures program runs for 8 weeks and our Academy Program runs for 10 weeks. Each program will practice twice a week at our CVU Soccer Complex on Campbell Avenue. Our Futures Program will have in-house scrimmages and games every Saturday at our Complex at 10AM. Our Academy Program will have a mix of in-house games on the weekends as well as competition vs. other clubs on the weekends. There will be about 5 out of house play dates per season, which will be balanced between home and away games.
