CVU's Developmental Academy program has been revamped again and refreshed for Spring 2025! Technical staff have structured a new approach to the way our players will learn, compete, and develop. Our philosophy is developed around the technical, cognitive, and social development of our players. For CVU's Developmental Academy Curriculum, click here.
The Academy (pre-travel) program serves as the bridge between learning the basics of soccer at the recreation level to competing within our extensive travel program. This year, CVU Academy is open to U9 and U10 aged players.
Our coaches will educate players in developmentally appropriate curriculum over 10 weeks of play. Players will gain a more in-depth knowledge of the fundamentals of play and create their own pathway for success. Training will occur on Tuesday and Thursday nights, with most games on Saturdays. CVU aims to teach the love for the game in a safe, competitive, and educational environment.
Base cost is $300 for U9 and U10 players. A $25 early bird registration discount is auto-applied to all registrations in the month of January. Please note that there is a no-refund policy in effect upon the close of registration and the start of the season.
Academy is offered in both the Fall and Spring. The Spring 2025 season begins on March 11. Male and female players may participate together in a co-ed setting, but a focus to provide girls-only instruction will also occur. For the current season, players born in 2015 and 2016 are eligible for the Academy program.
Because the Academy program is pre-travel, we hope to be able to help everyone make that transition to travel soccer. All Academy players will attend an end-of-season tournament on May 17 and 18 in North Carolina. The cost is covered by the program fees. Parents are just responsible for a hotel booking that weekend. Players can opt out of participating in the tournament if desired.
We are excited to welcome Zack Clark as the director of CVU's Developmental Academy this spring. Zack is an assistant coach for Randolph College Men's Soccer and also played DI college soccer for Liberty University. He will be assisted by several former college players. Our coaches follow CVU's Player Development Model. The Academy will have a lead coach as well as staff coaches to ensure an ideal player to coach ratio.
Training sessions are held at the CVU Complex.
Players are expected to wear shin guards and cleats for each practice. They are also encouraged to bring their own soccer ball - size 4 balls.
There will be a mix of in-house games as well as a few out-of-house games against other clubs for Academy players. The schedule will be communicated through Email and Game Changer (will be set up at the start of the season).
Spring 2025 practices for Academy will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 - 7:15 p.m.
Games at the CVU Complex will be on Fields 1A, 1B & 1C on Saturday mornings, usually from 9 a.m. to noon.
