The Futures and Academy programs seek to instill the fundamentals of soccer in each individual through a fun, creative, and player-centered environment. These programs help our younger players expand on their knowledge of soccer and build a strong foundation on which to further develop as a player.
Both programs are offered in the Fall and Spring seasons. The Futures is for players aged 5-7, while the Academy is for 8 and 9 year old players. All practices are run by licensed coaches, allowing your player to get the most out of each session.
Our Academy Program builds upon the skills learned in the Futures and begins the transition to Travel level play. Players will focus on developing a strong base of technical skills as well as a sense of positioning on both offense and defense. The Academy sets up players to succeed if they choose to participate in Travel beginning at the U11 age group.
Considering joining the Futures or Academy? We highly reccommend signing up for our Academy Camp over the Summer. The Camp is open to U7 to U10 players of all abilities. It's a great way to figure out if The Futures or Academy is the right fit for you and your player.
The Futures is $150 per season and the Academy is $250 per season. A t-shirt is included in the Futures registration costs, however, Academy players must purchase a uniform separately for about $50. Note that there is a no refunds policy in effect upon the close of registration and start of the season.
Offered in both the Fall and Spring, the Futures program runs for 8 weeks and the Academy runs for 10 weeks. Male and female players participate together in a co-ed setting.
Futures and Academy are overseen by CVU's Technical Director Coach Cory Weaver. The coaches are all nationally licensed through U.S. Soccer - the governing body of soccer in the United States - and follow CVU's Player Development Model.
Training sessions are held twice a week at the CVU Complex. Day of the week and time details for the upcoming season are released upon the opening of registration. Players are expected to wear shinguards and cleats for each practice. They are also encouraged to bring their own soccer ball - size 3 ball for 5 year olds and size 4 ball for 6 to 9 year olds.
The Futures program will have in-house scrimmages and games every Saturday at the Complex at 10:00AM. The Academy Program will have a mix of in-house games as well as a few out-of-house games against other clubs. In-house games for Academy are scheduled for Satrudays at 10:00AM, while details for out-of-house games will be released during the season as finalized.
